The system behind the rose – how PharmaRosa® works
If origin, varietal authenticity and predictable quality matter to you, it is worth seeing the background system as well. On this page, from the history of the nursery to today’s operations, we show how the potted quality has become an own-root, fully traceable system: identification, plot management, plant passport and quality assurance.

From research mindset to horticultural foundation
The roots of our nursery go back to 1960: Dr István Túri, a paprika breeder, and his wife founded the business. From the very beginning, a strong research and breeding approach has defined how we work. Introducing new varieties and variety types into cultivation and implementing new cultivation techniques created a development culture on which PharmaRosa® still builds today.
The direction of rose production and potted quality
From the early 1970s the family began to focus on rose cultivation. Drawing on experience in traditional bare-root production, many years of work led to the practice of growing roses in pots. Its greatest values became the consistently maintained reliable rooting ability and varietal authenticity.
Becoming a business and family continuity
After 1992 the nursery developed into a business, and from the late 1990s the persistent work based on potted rose production laid the foundations for the current success of PharmaRosa® Ltd. Since the founders passed away, the company has continued to operate under family management: versatility, a development-driven attitude and professional discipline still shape our decisions today.
The turning point: adaptation and a unique European solution
The economic and labour market changes after 2018 created a completely new situation. We did not respond with mere “survival solutions”, but with a new, stable production and sales model: uniquely in Europe, we developed the propagation and growing of own-root roses across our entire assortment.
Today, our production includes more than 1,500 varieties, and behind this wide range there is not a random stock but a consistently managed system.

How the PharmaRosa® system works today
The essence of how we operate today: transparent origin, traceable processes, consistent professional standards. Our aim is that, regardless of variety or format, every rose should reliably deliver the quality its name promises.
Controlled foundation: uniform propagation material
Every process starts from the PharmaRosa® NEONATAL® rooted cutting, the basis of our propagation. This ensures that varietal purity and consistent quality are not a matter of “hope” but core system principles.
Plot-based growing: item-specific, fully traceable journey
Growing takes place on designated, clearly identified plots. Roses are managed in batches, so their journey is traceable from plot to packaging. This is not only about organisation but real security as well: in case of any deviation, we can act quickly and in a targeted way.
Plant passport and transparent origin
Roses that are prepared for dispatch are issued with a plant passport (Plant Passport). This way you receive not only a beautiful plant but also the reassurance of a clearly traceable origin and compliance.
Two sales formats – one guiding principle: clarity
Within our system there are two sales formats:
• Mediated sales, where the seller is the primary agricultural producer (this is indicated on the product page).
• Direct sales, where the seller is PharmaRosa® Ltd.
The common point in both cases is transparency: you clearly see all essential information about your purchase.
Quality assurance: discipline, verifiability, rapid intervention
For us, quality is not a one-off inspection at the end but an integral part of our daily operation:
• batch identification and full traceability,
• controlled plant protection practices,
• stock and plot management suitable for official inspections,
• blocking system: in the event of any deviation, immediate action to protect quality.

What does this mean for you as a customer?
PharmaRosa® is unique in that it puts a system behind every rose: a consistent propagation base, clearly identifiable growing, documented origin and uniform professional responsibility. This is how we can maintain an operation which, despite a large assortment, makes quality, varietal authenticity and transparency everyday practice rather than mere promises.
A rose is a living plant – with natural variation. Our work focuses on everything that can be influenced (origin, varietal authenticity, growing discipline, traceability, packaging and information) so that every order is fulfilled to the same consistent standard.
